Paul Anthony

Paul Anthony’ is the pseudonym of a man born in Southport, Lancashire. An only child, the family settled in his mother’s native Cumbria following travels around England with his father who was a soldier. He attended the Creighton Margaret Sewell School in Carlisle and joined the police force as a cadet at the age of sixteen. He was immediately posted to Brampton: a small market town nestling close to Hadrian’s Wall, Lanercost Priory, Gelt Woods, and Talkin Tarn.

At the age of seventeen he was seconded by the police force to Haigh Colliery in West Cumbria, followed by other industrial sites in the County of Cumbria. At nineteen he joined the police force, proper, serving formatively on the M6 corridor in Carlisle, Kendal, and Penrith. In later years he served in the Regional Crime Squad at Manchester, the Special Branch, and other national agencies in London and elsewhere. He retired thirty three years later following receipt of ‘the police medal for exemplary service’ awarded following duty in various parts of the United Kingdom.

He has an ‘Honours Degree in Social Sciences’ following studies with the Open University, and a ‘Diploma in Management’ from Salford University, and other ‘recognitions’ and ‘experiences’ not mentioned here. Married to an Orthopaedic Nursing Sister, they have three children and five grandchildren, and live in the ‘Eden Valley’, a mile from ‘Hadrian’s Wall’. Paul Anthony enjoys keeping fit, fell walking, music, and a host of other interests that inspire his work, and the love of his friends and family who provide ‘support and contentment’ in relation to his ‘recognitions and experiences’.
